Workforce Development Celebrates Century High School Seniors Completing the RISE Program

Carroll County Workforce Development (CCWD) recently celebrated the graduation of the first 17 Century High School students to complete the Résumé Instruction with Senior Educators (RISE) program.Image of Century HS Rise Logo CCWD partners with several Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) to deliver RISE as part of Pillar 3 of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, focused on College and Career Readiness (CCR). This pillar equips students with the career, technical education (CTE), and college-prep skills needed to transition after high school.

RISE is a year-long peer-led workforce readiness initiative that empowers high school seniors to serve as mentors and instructors in résumé writing and interview preparation. After receiving guided training from CCWD staff to master résumé best practices, interview techniques, and professional communication, seniors become peer résumé coaches. These students then support underclass advisories as they prepare résumés and practice interview skills for a mock interview project. This peer-to-peer model strengthens learning, encourages leadership, and fosters collaboration within each school community.

This year marks Century’s first graduating class – and the program continues to grow across Carroll County schools. For more information, contact CCWD’s Career & College Readiness Program Manager Tammi Casson at tcasson@carrollcountymd.gov.
