Fleet Mechanic I

What You Will Do
As a Fleet Mechanic I, you will perform basic services on vehicles and road equipment in accordance with all applicable industry standards, laws and regulations. Under the direction of the Foreman, you will apply your mechanical knowledge and skills to provide services to Fleet Assets. We are looking for a team player with basic knowledge of vehicle repair.
Essential Duties
• Perform preventative maintenance services for county vehicles and equipment. Make basic vehicle repairs.
• Perform Maryland Department of Transportation (DOT) safety inspections.
• Diagnose and make basic repairs to mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC components.
• Assist with fleet asset fabrications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mechanical methods, trends, and techniques.
• Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively.
• Operate diagnostic computer equipment.
• Collect and record data using computerized Fleet Management systems, including logging daily work and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Assist other Mechanics with projects and repairs.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
• Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.
