Job Description
The Church of the Brethren is seeking an individual to fill the full-time hourly position of Program Assistant for Brethren Disaster Ministries (BDM) – Children’s Disaster Services (CDS). The Program Assistant is part of the Brethren Disaster Ministries team and reports to the Associate Director of Children’s Disaster Services. This position is located at the Brethren Service Center in New Windsor, MD.
The major responsibilities of this position are to support programming and administration of CDS. These activities include providing administrative, programming, and clerical support to the associate director of Children’s Disaster Services. This includes support of volunteers, volunteer training and response, and assistance with general administration of BDM.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple simultaneous priorities effectively.
Ability to learn and aggressively utilize new software applications, identify and gain competent user status of updates.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision, as well as to work as part of a team, especially during stressful times of disaster response.
Ability to articulate and operate out of the vision, mission, and core values of the Church of the Brethren.
Ability to uphold and support the basic beliefs and practices of the Church of the Brethren as determined by Annual Conference.
Experience:
At least two years of experience with Microsoft Office component applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Raisers Edge software is helpful for this role.
Capability and willingness to learn new software applications.
Two years of office administration experience preferred.
Previous experience working with children or in the child development field preferred.
Education: Associate degree or commensurate education, life, and work experience required.
