What You Will Do
As a Fleet Maintenance Worker, you will apply service excellence and sound decision making to ensure the maintenance of repair shops and fuel stations. You will transport vehicles to required locations and perform routine cleanup to support the Fleet staff. The work you do will help Carroll County Government respond to repair needs and provide adequate transportation for staff members.
Essential Duties
• Assist with general maintenance and housekeeping of service shop and fuel islands. Help maintain shop equipment and tools.
• Clean and fuel pool vehicles. Transport vehicles as requested.
• Load and transport tires, scrap material, and cores to the appropriate facilities.
• Document fuel deliveries, condition, and inspections. Assist in parts deliveries as requested.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
• Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Up to one year of related experience
• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications
• Class C non-commercial driver’s license
• Department of Transportation (DOT) physical card
• Forklift Operator license (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
• Maryland UST Class C Operator Training certificate (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
Preferred Licenses and Certifications
• Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Additional Information
• Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
• Employees shall be subject to alcohol, drug and/or controlled substance testing, including but not limited to random testing.
• May be required to work outside of standard hours.
Working Conditions
• Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
• Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
• Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 100lbs, climbing ladders and stairs, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
• Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
