Job Description

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our mental health clinic. The PMHNP will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and collaborative care to support the emotional and behavioral health needs of our diverse client population. The ideal candidate is a licensed provider who combines strong clinical expertise with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to client-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
• Clinical Care & Medication Management
o Conduct psychiatric assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and risk assessments.
o Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychiatric medications while educating clients on benefits, risks, and side effects.
o Provide medication management follow-up and track treatment progress.
o Collaborate with therapists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, integrated care.
o Maintain detailed and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Client Support & Advocacy
o Provide psychoeducation to clients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
o Offer crisis intervention and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary.
o Promote holistic, culturally competent, and trauma-informed care practices.
• Team & Clinic Contributions
o Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and clinical case conferences.
o Contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and ethical clinic culture.
o Stay current with psychiatric best practices, research, and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on psychiatry.
• Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in [Insert State].
• DEA registration (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience providing psychiatric care preferred (new graduates with strong clinical training will be considered).
• Proficiency with EHR systems and telehealth platforms.
• Strong diagnostic, pharmacological, and clinical decision-making skills.

Job Requirements

Education & Licensure
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health
• Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Maryland
• Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• DEA license and prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Clinical Experience
• Experience in outpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, or mental health settings preferred
• Strong competency in psychiatric evaluations and diagnosis
• Medication management (psychotropic prescribing)
• Treatment planning across the lifespan (adolescents & adults preferred)
• Experience with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and trauma-related conditions
Core Responsibilities
