What You Will Do
The Building Inspector I plays a role in residential and commercial building inspections in Carroll County. We are looking for an individual with experience in the construction field. You will apply your knowledge to new construction and renovation projects throughout the County and its municipalities. Your day-to-day will include important decisions to analyze construction, interpret plans, and verify compliance with codes adopted by Carroll County, keeping citizens safe.
Essential Duties
• Perform inspections, identify violations, evaluate corrective actions and approve work in accordance with applicable codes and ordinances.
• Review and interpret plans and apply current regulations of Carroll County Building Code Ordinance, International Building Code, International Residential Code, NFPA Life Safety Code, NFPA Fire Prevention Code International Energy Code and Maryland Accessibility Code as adopted by the County.
• Provide code solutions to contractors, businesses, and citizens to assist in achieving code compliance.
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
• Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
