What You Will Do
As a Carpenter, you will perform and coordinate advanced carpentry projects and provide technical oversight in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Acting in a lead capacity, you will manage Carpentry projects and apply your expertise to construct and renovate County buildings. You will use your specialized knowledge to train other maintenance staff.
Essential Duties
• Plan, coordinate, schedule and perform advanced carpentry work in the new construction, repair, renovation and maintenance of County buildings
• Measure dimensions to determine basic mathematical computations in order to conduct structural design analysis. Perform calculations to determine quantities of materials required and to make cost estimates, projections, and statistics.
• Determine material take-offs. Develop and submit plans and layouts for approval.
• Coordinate work of other employees and provide training related to a full range of carpentry services.
• Maintain specialized equipment and tools.
• Follow OSHA, MOSH, ICC, State Annotated Code and Woodcutting Policy and other Federal, State, and local laws.
• Assist with snow removal at County facilities as needed.
• Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
• Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

• Department of Transportation (DOT) physical card

• May be identified as Essential Personnel during emergency situations.
• Will be required to work outside of standard hours.
Working Conditions
• Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
• Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
• Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
• Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
