Job Description
What You Will Do
As a Grounds Maintenance Intern, you will assist in performing a variety of grounds maintenance duties. Working under the direct supervision of a County employee, you will learn and apply your landscaping knowledge and skills to provide services to County properties.
Essential Duties
• Working under direct supervision, operate a full range of ground maintenance tools and equipment, including some power tools.
• Apply landscaping techniques and procedures.
• Assist in the maintenance of County facilities by cutting grass and cleaning up leaves, downed limbs, rocks and trash.
• Assists in the maintenance of fences, parking lots, sidewalks and other site infrastructure at County facilities.
• Follow all applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, MOSH, County policy and procedure, State Annotated Code, and Federal laws.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
• Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

Additional Information
- This internship is a Spring placement, which will run from April to August, or as agreed upon by the manager and intern.
- Preferred schedule is two 10-hour days, up to 20 hours per week.
Working Conditions
- Daily exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
- Work includes daily physical activity: standing/walking for long hours, lifting, and related activities.
