Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC/Mechanical Estimator to join our regional manufacturer’s representative team. In this role, you will prepare accurate, competitive material and equipment quotations for HVAC and mechanical systems, supporting our contractor, engineer, and wholesaler customers across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. You will serve as a key technical and pricing resource, helping drive sales of the premium HVAC/mechanical product lines we represent.
This position combines strong plan reading, takeoff skills, product knowledge, and customer service in a fast-paced rep environment focused on equipment sales and application support.

Key Responsibilities
• Review mechanical plans, specifications, and addenda to understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed equipment takeoffs and selections for HVAC/mechanical systems
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely quotations using manufacturer pricing tools, software, and current discount structures.
• Select appropriate equipment based on project specifications, performance requirements, energy efficiency goals, and application needs.
• Provide technical application support and product recommendations to contractors, engineers, and owners during the bidding and design phases.
• Collaborate closely with outside sales representatives to develop winning strategies, value engineering options, and alternate proposals.
• Communicate directly with customers (mechanical contractors, wholesalers, engineers) to clarify scope, answer product questions, and refine quotations.
• Maintain organized bid files, pricing records, and project correspondence.
• Stay current on represented manufacturers’ product updates, pricing changes, lead times, and new technologies.
• Assist with submittal preparation, value analysis, and post-bid support as needed.
• Contribute to team efforts on large or complex projects, including coordination with multiple manufacturer lines.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical estimating, preferably in a manufacturer’s representative agency, equipment distributor, or similar sales support role. Relevant industry experience, particularly hands-on fieldwork and HVAC system installation, will be highly regarded.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems, equipment applications, and industry standards (ASHRAE, AHRI, etc.).
• Proficiency with manufacturer quoting/pricing software.
• Experience with takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, QuoteSoft, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal team interactions.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with CRM or bid tracking tools is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, HVAC technology, or related field.
• Previous experience representing or selling HVAC/mechanical equipment lines.
• Knowledge of regional codes and energy incentive programs.
• Active involvement in industry organizations (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA).
