What You Will Do
As a Legal Assistant in the Department of the County Attorney, you will perform a variety of paralegal and administrative duties. Working under the direction of the County Attorney, you will apply your skills to assist in Department operations. The work you do will support the protection of the County’s legal interests and integrity.
Essential Duties
• Greet and engage with visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner. Serve as a point of contact for County agencies and citizens.
• Provide paralegal and administrative support for the Department and relevant Committees, Boards, Commissions, assignments, and projects.
• Prepare general and confidential correspondence, legal documents, and other materials. Correspond with attorneys and courts under the supervision of the County Attorney.
• Establish, organize, and assure maintenance of paper and computer records management/ file systems.
• Calculate acreage and invoices. Maintain accurate records for collections payments.
• Assist in the maintenance of the law library and update legal publications.
• Maintain the County’s Public Information Act (PIA) database and ensure appropriate departments receive PIA requests in a timely manner.
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
• Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
