Job Description

Overnight Security Associate – Men’s Residential Addiction Recovery Program

The Addiction Healing Center at the Westminster Rescue Mission (Westminster MD 21157)

Full-Time – 40 hours per week: 11 PM to 7 AM evenings as needed.

Hourly $15 / Hour

Reports to: Residential Programs and Peer Support Manager

Summary: Serves as only staff presence on-site during overnight shift; responsible for safety and security of residents, overnight guests, and facility; works with other Recovery Program staff to provide care and supportive environment for residential clients. Contributes to direction and accomplishment of Mission functions and operations as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for safety and security of dorms; assists residential clients and overnight guests with any needs during the overnight shift, including offering over the counter medications as needed for physical ailments, or support and nurture through emotional or spiritual concerns; works to de-escalate or mediate any tensions which may arise.
Monitors cameras and secures facility for safety and proper functioning of environmental systems
Understands, implements and reinforces program policies and procedures.
Performs rounds multiple times per shift and routinely checks all doors, cameras, and temperatures on cooling units.
Remains awake and available to residential clients and overnight guests to address problem-solving needs which may arise on the campus between the hours of 11pm and 7am.
Promptly contacts Recovery Program Director, Executive Director, or Emergency Services (911) as needed to address crisis situations or to inform management of incidents which may require follow up.
Opens gate and wakes clients and guests; follows up to make sure all clients report to dining hall for prayer and breakfast; responds to any client who expresses health issues and may from time to time permit additional bedrest.
Write clear, accurate and detailed daily activity shift reports at close of shift for distribution to Recovery Staff and Executive Director to inform of any specific issues or concerns which may have occurred during the shift.
Responds to emails and any other communication requests.

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
