What You Will Do
As a Plumber, you will perform and coordinate a full range of services on plumbing fixtures and systems in accordance with all applicable industry standards, laws and regulations. Acting in a lead capacity, you will manage plumbing projects and apply your expertise to provide services to all County buildings. You will use your specialized knowledge to train other maintenance staff. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with plumbing and mechanical expertise.
Essential Duties
• Perform a full range of maintenance services related to plumbing. Test, troubleshoot, make repairs, and perform preventative maintenance, as needed.
• Plan, coordinate, and schedule repair projects and preventative maintenance of assigned area. Assist in planning and accessing future repair and preventative maintenance projects.
• Ensure the proper installation and repair of plumbing equipment and associated piping systems to meet all applicable codes.
• Coordinate work with other employees and provide training related to a full range of plumbing services.
• Install and repair replacement pipe, fittings, valves, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets using hand and power tools.
• Collect and record data using a Computerized Maintenance Management System, including logging daily work and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively.
• Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
• Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications
• Valid driver’s license
• Backflow certification (Maryland) (or must obtain within six months of employment)
• Journeyman Plumber license (Maryland) or successful completion of ICC plumbing exam
Additional Information
• Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
• Will be required to work outside of standard hours.
Working Conditions
• Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
• Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
• Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 75lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
• Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
