Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation

Maryland’s goal is to ensure that businesses have skilled workers and job seekers have access to employment and training services; the website provides information on job seeker services and training, business services, adult learning programs, and labor market information.

Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE)

The Maryland Workforce Exchange is a “virtual” one-stop network for businesses to manage their workforce needs. The site is designed to help your company take charge of its hiring needs and it is free of charge. If a company has its own website to help in the recruitment process, MWE has additional services that will help.

With MWE, businesses:

  • Manage the entire hiring process online at no cost
  • Gain maximum exposure for job openings
  • Search the job seeker pool for potential candidates and track those that qualify and apply
  • Create and maintain multiple job offerings
  • Find and sign up for business seminars
  • Access local economic and labor force data

Unemployment Information

Unemployment Insurance in Maryland is managed by the Maryland State Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Information for employers regarding unemployment can be found at the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI).

Minimum Wage Adjustments

Employers with 15 or more employees:

  • January 1, 2020 – $11.00 per hour
  • January 1, 2021 – $11.75 per hour
  • January 1, 2022 – $12.50 per hour
  • January 1, 2023 – $13.25 per hour
  • January 1, 2024 – $14.00 per hour
  • January 1, 2025 – $15.00 per hour

Employers with 14 or fewer employees:

  • January 1, 2020 – $11.00 per hour
  • January 1, 2021 – $11.60 per hour
  • January 1, 2022 – $12.20 per hour
  • January 1, 2023 – $12.80 per hour
  • January 1, 2024 – $13.40 per hour
  • January 1, 2025 – $14.00 per hour
  • January 1, 2026 – $14.60 per hour
  • July 1, 2026 – $15.00 per hour
