Job Description

Job Summary:

Effectively supports the Branch Manager by leading the retail branch team. An Assistant Branch Manager should have the skill set to lead the branch sales, operations and customer service aspects of the branch by coaching and mentoring branch team to exceed expectations with minimal assistance. High expectation of growing consumer customer base through proactive relationship building. Knowledgeable with servicing small business customers by providing outstanding customer service levels. Responsibilities include to acquire, build and retain valuable customer relationships, manage risks and develop employee potential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Acts as back up to Branch Manager’s absence by ensuring internal functions of the branch team delivery of outstanding customer service, achievement of sales goals, operational efficiencies and coaching branch team by following the Farmers and Merchants sales and service model is met.
 Oversees and leads the efficient day to day operational soundness of the branch to ensure all operational, security, audit functions are completely and properly performed by the staff.
 Takes ownership of account servicing and error resolution, including resolving complex customer problems and taking complete ownership of issues escalated by other Bankers, including exercising override authority based on specific situation. Follow-up on these issues as required to ensure timely and accurate resolution, and convert servicing situations to sales/referral opportunities.
 Facilitates integrated delivery of consumer & business financial services and products, including deposit products and multi-channel delivery services, consumer lending and credit card products by following the FMB Relationship Building process.
 Ensures all staff members are adequately trained with product knowledge, customer service skills and sales or referral techniques.
 Responsible with the internal branch sales and service process through goal setting, coaching, cross-training and results analysis.
 Supports sales and promotional programs with creativity and energy such that goals are achieved and quality standards are met or exceeded.
 In consult with Branch Manager, assists in the selection, placement, performance, development, promotion, and termination of branch team.
 Complies with regulations, policies, and procedures.
a. Complies with the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering Policy
(BSA/AML) as it applies to the position. Attends annual Compliance Training
Program, including BSA/AML Training, Red Flags, Elder Abuse, Network
Security Program Training, Bank Security Training and Management Roundtable
Disaster Recovery/Pandemic Contingency Planning.
b. Complies with federal and state regulations, including but not limited to, Reg. D,
Reg. E/EFT, Reg. CC, Reg. DD/TISA, USA Patriot Act, CIP, Identity Theft Red
Flags, etc.
 Responsible for all aspects of branch security in accordance with Farmers and Merchants Bank’s security policy.
 Responsible for positive community relations in the branch market area.
 Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
 Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required compliance training.
 May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and facilitate courses as subject matter expert.
 Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Farmers and Merchants Bank values of community banking.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills, Competencies and Education:

 Minimum of 5 years banking experience, knowledge and training in bank product sales and branch operations.
 Previous branch management experience preferred.
 Demonstrated experience in sales, accounting or financial analysis.
 Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations.
 Highly motivated – sales and service driven.
 Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
 Effective problem solving and decision-making abilities.
 Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
 Team player with an energetic positive attitude.
 Excellent organization and time management skills.
 PC proficient; Competent with Microsoft Office – Windows, Word and Excel.
 College degree or High School Diploma plus a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to successfully perform the essential functions of the

 Must possess ability to enter numerical data on a computer with speed and accuracy; and should have a good mathematical
aptitude.
 Must be able to lift/push/pull and/or carry 50lbs.
 This job may be very sedentary in nature.
