Job Description
Are you a people-person with excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, self-motivated, detail oriented and looking to make a difference in Carroll County as part of a great business organization? If so, the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is the place for you to bring your talents and skills! The Chamber is preparing to celebrate its 100-year anniversary in 2024 and is looking for an individual to help us grow to the next level.
The Chamber is seeking an administrative professional capable of wearing many hats well. The ideal candidate needs to be able to prioritize tasks to accomplish the variety of goals of an Administrative Assistant. This position answers directly to the President/CEO of the Chamber and is responsible for: numerous administrative tasks, Chamber database update and input, coordination of various community events, frequent communication with members and potential members, as well as other tasks as designated.
This person should be able to handle office administrative functions, be knowledgeable of various social media platforms and be very computer literate. In addition, this person should be self-motivated, an energetic leader capable of coordinating volunteers to effectively create and run events, as well as an excellent communicator, able to work with businesses of all sizes.
The standard hours for this position are 32 hours per week, Monday – Thursday. The ability to work occasionally from home exists.
Job Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Provide detail oriented administrative office support
o Inputting data into software system
o Processing payments and creating invoices
o PC Proficiency to include Microsoft Office
o Answering phone calls
• Conceptualize and execute designated Community-wide events, employing equal amounts of leadership, vision, delegation and attention to details
o Coordinate all aspects of an event from venue selection, room setup, budget, marketing, speaker coordination, menu selection to tear down.
• Membership Recruitment and Retention
o Phone calling and emailing of members and potential members
o On site meetings with business leaders
REQUIREMENTS:
• Prior experience in office management or administrative assistance
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
• Professional Phone Presence
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• This person needs to be able to multi-task, work flexible hours and wear many hats
• Detail orientated, computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, and comfortable enough to back up the Community Engagement Manager
• Ability to coordinate large events, lift/move forward 25 pounds and effectively delegate volunteers to complete goals and tasks
• Grant writing experience a plus, but not required
