Job Description
Job Summary
The Testing Center Specialist is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the Testing Center, promoting a safe and secure testing environment, implementing best practices in test delivery, and modeling quality customer service for students, faculty, and community members. The position proctors placement testing, departmental, online/hybrid, contracted/high stakes certification, and professionally proctored exams. The Specialist reports to the Director of Academic Services.
Essential Job Functions
Serves as Site Administrator for exam programs (Accuplacer, Pearson VUE, CLEP, etc.) and maintains proctor/administrator certification as required.
Adjusts cut scores/placements and creates new cohorts as needed.
Monitors students during sign-in and checks identification. Creates and maintains a secure testing environment. Prepares documentation if testing violation occurs.
Administers reading, English, and Math placement tests. Complies with retest policies, using Ellucian Colleague system, as necessary.
Maintains, administers, and proctors credit and non-credit make-up tests for instructors following faculty guidelines.
Downloads and imports Accuplacer, SAT, and ACT scores into College system.
Checks the imported scores for correct student information.
Proctors exams for other colleges and universities according to the guidelines provided by that institution
Trains and supervises full-time Testing Technician and part-time testing proctors. This includes scheduling and coordinating replacements when needed.
Supports accommodation requests using adaptive computer software and other environmental adjustments for individuals with disabilities.
Troubleshoots technical issues when administering computerized exams. Contacts Information Technology, if need be, to resolve issues.
Uses office technology to receive/return, scan, fax, mail, and email faculty, students, other test takers, and other institutions regarding tests and exams and other related matters.
Generates purchase requests via Unimarket
Maintains monthly and yearly outcome statistics.
Answers phone and email inquiries about College procedures and policies, making appropriate referrals.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
Associate Degree and two years’ related experience, preferably in higher education or HS Diploma and Five years related experience.
Knowledge of applicable exam programs (Accuplacer, Pearson Vue, CLEP etc.).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to work effectively with diverse population of students including those who may have disabilities
Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and Saturdays if required.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a secure testing environment.
Must be positive, cooperative, and supportive.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree
Certification in testing software such as Accuplacer, Pearson VUE, ALEKS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work normally requires a medium level of physical effort and activity. However, there are times the work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus testing center. Interaction with students, faculty, and the public. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe workplace practices with office equipment and computers and observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies.
TO QUALIFY FOR EMPLOYMENT, SELECTED CANDIDATES MUST:
successfully complete a criminal background check (for designated positions)
be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment
be a resident of DE, MD, PA, VA, WV or DC as of the first day of employment
be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships

Wages per hour: $42,015.00 – $56,720.00 Annually – This position will be placed on the 12-month non-exempt staff salary scale at grade 10. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience.
