Carroll County Government is seeking a resourceful, forward-thinking individual with strong and effective oral and written communication skills to direct the overall coordination, evaluation, and operations of the Department of Public Safety.

The Director is responsible for managing the emergency management operations of Carroll County, ensuring efficient operation of the Communication Center in support of police, fire, and emergency services; Coordinating with the Department of Fire/EMS, Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, municipal police departments and others throughout the County for fire, emergency medical services, and local law enforcement to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws. Individual may serve as governor-appointed Emergency Manager.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Wireless/Emergency Communication, Emergency Management, or related field/discipline
2. Six years administrative emergency services experience, including three years supervisory experience*
3. Valid driver’s license
4. Requires criminal background check as condition of employment
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
