Job Description

The City of Westminster is seeking a Director of Public Works to oversee all operations of the Department of Public Works, including Streets, Utilities Maintenance, Wastewater Treatment, and Water Treatment divisions. The former Director of Public Works retired after 40 years with the City.

This position includes management of capital projects, including associated procurement and construction activities, roadway infrastructure and storm drain systems, and refuse/recycling collection for the City; oversight for maintenance of City buildings and grounds as well as the construction of the Westminster Fiber Network; and administration of water and wastewater treatment as well as their collection and distribution.

Job Requirements

Desired skill set includes: strong leadership skills to continue to unify an extremely capable staff; excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complicated technical information clearly, and core management experience, including personnel and budgeting procedures. Knowledge in the areas of water or sewer treatment and distribution is preferred.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, chemistry, environmental science, government, or a related field; Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in public works management, construction, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
