Job Description

The City of Westminster’s Utility Maintenance Department is seeking an Equipment Operator, Utility Line Locator. This position performs work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate said utilities. The utilities will include sanitary sewer, water lines, fiber lines, and possible City owned electric lines.

This position will also assist in maintenance and repair of the City’s Fiber Network, Sewer Collection, and Water Distribution systems. They will be subject to call outs to meet service requirements and on call duty. Weekend and holiday work may be required as service demands dictate.

This position is a full-time, 40 hour/week position.

High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma GED, Two (2) years’ experience in Utility Line Locating, or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.

Wages per hour: Equipment Operator I – $17.76/hour; must have a valid Class C driver’s license. Ability to obtain a valid Class A restricted CDL driver’s license with tank vehicle and air brake endorsements within six to twelve months on the job. Equipment Operator II – $21.11/hour; must already have a valid CDL Class A license
