Job Description

The City of Westminster is seeking a GIS Support Technician that will be responsible for working with related software and programs to create and maintain maps that can be combined with geographically referenced data. This position assists in maintaining geographic, political, and environmental data that are pertinent to the City.

An employee in this position maintains fiber documentation to support our Fiber Internet Provider by creating maps, updating existing fiber route details, conducting research, performing fiber asset management, and preparing final documents for various projects.

The GIS Support Technician will enter new map data through digitization or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography, assists in implementing new GIS applications, changes, improvements, and upgrades, and gathers, analyzes, and integrates spatial data from staff and determines how best the information can be displayed using GIS.

Job Requirements

Requires a certificate in GIS, an associate degree or bachelor’s degree, in GIS, Geography, Natural Resources, Computer Science, or a related field. Preferred coursework with ArcGIS; or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience. Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
