INDIVIDUALS WHO DID NOT SUCCESSFULLY PROGRESS THROUGH A PRIOR DEPARTMENT OF FIRE & EMS HIRING PROCESS, BEGINNING WITH THE WRITTEN EXAM, ARE INELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE FOR A PERIOD OF 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF ELIMINATION. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU DID NOT PASS A TEST ON February 9, 2024, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO TEST AGAIN IN THE EMPLOYMENT PROCESS UNTIL August 9, 2024.
The Firefighter/Paramedic plays a crucial role in the emergency response of Carroll County Government. You will respond to emergency situations with calm, quick actions. We are looking for a strong understanding of EMS protocols capable of helping citizens and basic life support providers through crisis. Your day-to-day will include important decisions to balance medical needs, overtake challenges, and take critical actions to provide advanced life support, firefighting, and rescue.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Validated Paramedic and fire service field experience
• Class C non-commercial driver’s license
• Cardiac Rescue Technician, Paramedic certification (Maryland) or National Registry (NREMT) Paramedic
• Firefighter I certification by MFSPQB, Pro-Board, IFSAC, or DOD
• Firefighter II certification by MFSPQB, Pro-Board, IFSAC, or DOD (or must obtain within 1 year of hire date)
• Common Passenger Vehicle Technical Rescuer -Technician or Rescue Technician (site operations, vehicle, and machinery) certification by MFSPQB, Pro Board, IFSAC, or DOD (or must obtain within 1 year of hire date)
• Emergency Vehicle Operator course (MFRI, VFIS, or equivalent)
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, & 800
