Job Description

The Fire Inspector I plays a role in performing residential and commercial fire inspections in Carroll
County. We are looking for an individual with experience with fire and life safety code. You will apply
your knowledge to new construction and renovated projects throughout the County and its
municipalities. Your day-to-day will include important decisions to analyze construction, interpret
plans, and verify compliance with codes adopted by Carroll County and the State Fire Marshal’s
Office, keeping citizens safe.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Five or more years of related experience, including experience with fire and life safety code
• Valid driver’s license
• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
• MFRI Fire Inspector I certification (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
