What You Will Do
As a part of the Department of the Comptroller, you will be supporting the enterprise funds for the County. Under the direction of the Enterprise Accounting Supervisor, you will help to ensure that customers receive their utility billings in a timely and accurate manner. As the Utilities Accounting Technician, you will regularly interact with customers and agencies and will respond to them in a supportive role while assisting the enterprise fund team with compiling and reviewing billing data. The work you do will support the enterprise team and assist with compliance of all applicable laws and obligations.
Essential Duties
• Maintain utility and septage billing database systems and electronic reading devices; ensure the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Compare meter reading and usage data to pre-billing edits. Release billing on schedule.
• Interpret public works agreement schedules and levy fees in accordance with County codes.
• Establish or change utility service based on property transfer requests, independently calculate utility payoff documents based on final reads; communicate with settlement agents, attorneys, and title companies.
• Compile schedules and reports, resolve basic discrepancies, calculate adjustments, and utilize County’s financial management systems to process applicable adjustments.
• Greet and engage with visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner. Serve as a point of contact for County agencies and customers.
• Provide administrative and general technical support in overall office operations, assignments, and projects.
• Compose, prepare, and process general and confidential correspondence, including routine reports, e-mail, and faxes.
• Assist auditors by providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal process and procedures.
• Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.
• Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
