What You Will Do

The Electrical Inspector I plays a role in residential and commercial electrical inspections in Carroll County. We are looking for an individual who holds a Maryland master electrician license and has a good knowledge base with electrical code. You will apply your knowledge to new construction and renovation projects throughout the County and its municipalities. Your day-to-day will include important decisions to analyze construction, interpret plans, and verify compliance with codes adopted by Carroll County, keeping citizens safe.

Essential Duties

Review and interpret plans and apply current regulations of Carroll County Building Code Ordinance, National Electric Code, International Energy Conservation Code, and the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code as adopted in Carroll County.
Perform inspections, identify violations, evaluate corrective actions and approve work in accordance with applicable codes and ordinances.
Provide code solutions to contractors, businesses, and citizens to assist in achieving code compliance.
Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications

Master Electrician license
International Residential Electrical Inspector certification (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions

Work includes occasional physical activity: standing/walking, lifting, and related activities.
Daily exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
