2026 Virtual Hiring Event for Businesses & Job Seekers – August
July 7, 2026CCWD and DORS Partner to Support Career Change Success
Carroll County Workforce Development (CCWD) recently teamed up with the Maryland State Department of Education Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) to help a local resident pursue a new and rewarding career path.
When Ms. Nightingale first connected with CCWD and DORS, she was working in retail and exploring opportunities for long‑term career growth. Through the Careerscope assessment – a web‑based tool that identifies aptitudes and interests – she discovered a strong alignment with the veterinary field. After additional research and career counseling, she set her sights on becoming a Veterinary Assistant.
With financial support from DORS, Ms. Nightingale enrolled in Carroll Community College’s five‑month Veterinary Assistance Program. She successfully completed the program and earned her Veterinary Assistance Certificate.
Today, she is gaining hands-on experience as a kennel technician while working closely with CCWD staff to enhance her resume, strengthen job search skills, and prepare for her next step in the veterinary field.
Congratulations, Ms. Nightingale! CCWD and DORS wish you continued success as you grow in this exciting new career.
