About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic Deputy City Administrator to serve as a key member of the City’s executive leadership team. In this high-impact, in-person role, you will partner closely with the City Administrator to oversee daily operations, lead strategic initiatives, and ensure the efficient and effective delivery of city services. You’ll also serve as Acting City Administrator in their absence, representing the City with professionalism, poise, and a forward-thinking approach.

As the ideal candidate, you bring both administrative expertise and a strong passion for public service. You are a strategic thinker, a confident communicator, and a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced municipal environment. Your work will directly support the City’s mission of responsive government, community engagement, and operational excellence.

You will be relied upon for your sound judgment, political acumen, and organizational leadership as you help guide Westminster’s future across key priorities including policy development, performance management, emergency preparedness, intergovernmental relations, and community wellness.

Job Requirements

The Education and Experience That Will Help You Succeed

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field (required)
Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant municipal experience, including executive-level or senior management responsibilities
Master’s degree in public policy, public administration, government planning, or related disciplines is highly desirable
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
Valid driver’s license and good driving record required

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Matter

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of municipal government operations, budgeting, and public policy
Strategic planning, performance management, and organizational development
Emergency management planning, crisis response, and intergovernmental relations
City policies, procedures, and administrative processes

Skill in:

Building and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with elected officials, department heads, staff, and community stakeholders
Communicating clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in public speaking settings
Developing and analyzing data-driven strategies to improve performance and service delivery
Managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines

Ability to:

Exercise high levels of discretion, confidentiality, and sound decision-making
Act on behalf of the City Administrator and represent the City with professionalism
Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
Respond flexibly and strategically in fast-moving or high-pressure situations
Keep current on trends and best practices in public administration and municipal governance
