Job Description
Position Summary — The Financial Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in financial management, grant writing, and donor relations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about contributing to our mission-driven work. This position is Grant funded through the Maryland Service Learning Program. Interested candidates must meet the program age requirements and apply through the program portal.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations (60%)
● Assist in processing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
● Support monthly bank reconciliations and assist in preparing financial reports.
● Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in compliance with organizational policies.
● Aid in budget preparation and monitoring, providing data entry and analysis support.
● Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with grant and donor restrictions.
Grant Writing Support (20%)
● Conduct research on potential grant opportunities and funding sources.
● Assist in drafting grant proposals, including gathering necessary financial data and organizational information.
● Track submission deadlines and maintain a calendar of grant activities.
● Help compile reports for existing grants, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.
Donor Relations Support (15%)
● Update and maintain donor databases, ensuring accurate and current records.
● Assist in preparing donor acknowledgment letters and receipts.
● Support the planning and execution of donor events and campaigns.
● Respond to donor inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
Additional Duties (5%)
● Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events.
● Perform other tasks as assigned to support the finance and development teams.
