What You Will Do

As a Maintenance Technician for Carroll County parks, you will handle essential maintenance and landscaping duties. Reporting to the Park Maintenance Foreman, your daily tasks will include operating equipment, performing facility renovations, and providing janitorial services. The work you do will help ensure the facilities and grounds are safe and accessible for all visitors.

Essential Duties

Operate and maintain a full range of construction and grounds maintenance equipment. Apply landscaping techniques and procedures, including limbing and bucking trees.
Complete skilled construction and renovation projects of facilities. Perform basic electrical and plumbing maintenance and repairs.
Perform janitorial services as needed, including trash removal. Clean grounds and facilities for events and rentals, as needed.
Assist in performing invasive species control.
Assist with snow removal and security operations.
Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively.
Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
One or more years of related experience
A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications

Department of Transportation (DOT) physical card
Valid driver’s license
CPR, AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certification (or must obtain within 6 months of employment)
Bucket Truck training (or must obtain within six months of employment)
Preferred

Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license
Boater Safety certification
Playground Safety Inspector
Additional Information

Flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
On-call for weather related emergencies and facility related issues.
Working Conditions

Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
Occasional exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
