Job Description

Position Summary — The Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in building relationships with the community, raising awareness about the organization’s programs, and supporting program delivery. This entry-level position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, values service, and is looking to grow their skills in public engagement, communication, and nonprofit operations. This position is Grant funded through the Maryland Service Learning Program. Interested candidates must meet the program age requirements and apply through the program portal.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach (60%)
● Represent the organization at local events, schools, and community spaces to share information and connect
with residents.
● Assist with organizing and attending community events, workshops, and program presentations.
● Build and maintain outreach contact lists and databases for schools, community centers, partner organizations,
and individuals.
● Distribute promotional materials, manage outreach tables, and participate in canvassing efforts where
appropriate.
● Support social media and digital outreach strategies, helping to share stories, post updates, and engage
followers.

Program Support (20%)
● Assist with event planning, setup, and coordination.
● Help facilitate or co-lead workshops or educational sessions.
● Collect and report participant feedback and assist with tracking participation and outcomes.
● Support logistics such as registration, materials preparation, and attendance tracking.

Communications & Content Creation (15%)
● Draft content for outreach materials, newsletters, blog posts, or flyers.
● Help take photos or capture quotes/stories from the field to highlight program impact.
● Maintain organized records and digital assets for use in communications and reporting.

Additional Duties (5%)
● Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and strategic planning sessions.
● Support team efforts with special projects or tasks as assigned.
