Salary Details
SALARY INFORMATION: This position will be placed on the 12-month non-exempt staff salary scale at grade 3. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience. Position includes excellent benefits package.

Job Summary
This position assists in the daily operations of incoming and outgoing College deliveries including but not limited to packages, mail, supplies, equipment, and other miscellaneous items. It also assists with the ongoing maintenance of the fixed asset inventory system. It reports to the Receiving and Mail Services Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions
Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and packages; logs and updates database for incoming shipments as well as delivery confirmations within the College; distributes intra-campus mail.
Collects and sorts all outgoing mail on campus; processes and prints postage on outgoing mail and parcels; compiles daily records for postage expenditures and maintenance logbook for postage meter; updates, services, and cleans mail machines.
Responsible for maintaining current knowledge and procedures related to use of technology, including but not limited to the College’s postage meter and package web tracking system.
Maintains current listing of name and location of all personnel, based on information received from Human Resources, to ensure proper and timely mail distribution.
Has knowledge and assists with postal requests for faculty and staff, including bulk mailing, permitting, etc.
Assists with shipment by UPS, Parcel Post, and other parcel shippers. Manages and completes appropriate paperwork, informs sender of method and date of shipment, and is responsible for the proper packaging, labeling, and logging of outgoing freight.
Assists the Supervisor with data collection and management related to the Fixed Asset Management system.
In absence of the Supervisor, responsible to maintain the proper functioning of the Receiving and Mail Services area.
May assist College Maintenance with set-ups and moving of large heavy items.
Assists with training student aides. May oversee and schedule student aides in unit as needed.
Maintains stock and supply room in good order.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year full time experience with similar functions.
Knowledge of US Postal Service regulations and shipping guidelines of other delivery organizations such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
Basic computer knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes as required dependent upon task (i.e., receiving shipments).

Preferred:
Forklift certification
Associate degree

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is normally physically active work. Periodically it may require very heavy lifting (over 50 pounds) and operating equipment. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
Visual Acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
Mental Acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Some of the work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms, use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; also exposed to warehouse conditions including working with warehouse related equipment; needs to follow warehouse and warehouse equipment safety procedures; follows heavy lifting procedures and wearing of any required safety gear; computers for data entry and word processing with some new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of workplace and building safety regulations and College policies.

TO QUALIFY FOR EMPLOYMENT, SELECTED CANDIDATES MUST:

successfully complete a criminal background check (for designated positions)
be able to work on campus as of the first day of employment
be a resident of DE, MD, PA, VA, WV or DC as of the first day of employment
be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships
