Job Description
As a part of the Department of Human Resources, you will apply your experience to manage the administration of the retirement plans for County employees. You will use your skills in research and analysis to prepare reports and recommendations while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The work you do will ensure employees are well-informed and empowered to manage their retirement benefits.
Essential Duties
• Administer employee retirement plans, including 401(k) Plan, Section 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, Carroll County Pension Plan and Carroll County Public Safety Pension Plan. Serve as primary retirement coordinator for Maryland State Retirement Agency Plans.
• In collaboration with consultants, evaluate and administer retirement plan services provided to employees. Present information, respond to questions/requests for quotes and resolve issues.
• Analyze statistical reports and other data to monitor benefit programs activity for legal compliance and County purposes.
• Serve and/or chair administrative committees for all retirement plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist with benefits and leave administration and other HR projects as assigned.
• Independently ensure all work is complete and timely to achieve department goals. Review work of others to ensure that organizational standards are met.
• Foster collaboration and provide learning opportunities. Facilitate a supportive work environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field
• Five or more years of related experience
• A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Preferred Certification
• Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation
