Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 Provides individual, group, and family counseling to students and families as identified in
the individual education program.
 Provides consultation and crisis management services to students and staff.
 Provides integrated, family focused, case management services to children and families in
need.
 Provides extended school year services to students, as identified in the individual
education program.
 Collaborates and consults with school based, itinerant, and central office staff on a regular
basis in order to assess the individual and programmatic needs of students, families, and
the school environment.
 Collects and analyzes student data in order to monitor student progress, develop goals
and objectives for counseling, and plans appropriate interventions for students.
 Initiates and participates in special education meetings and other school meetings, as
required.
 Facilitates collaboration among school staff, parents/guardians, private providers, and
community agencies to address student needs and maximize resources.
 Maintains accurate records including progress notes and service logs/contacts, submits
billing for Medicaid reimbursements in a timely manner, and meets all special education
deadlines.
 Provides professional development activities for staff in the area of effective behavior
management techniques, intervention strategies, and support services available within
the school and community.
 Provides parenting education to families.
 Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
 Master’s degree in a related field of study.
 A minimum of three years of experience providing multiple modalities of treatment to
children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disabilities.
Position Description
 Holds a valid Maryland license as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed
Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC). LCSW-C or LCPC preferred.
 Knowledge and implementation of trauma informed practices.
 Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
 Strong organization and time management skills.
 A valid driver’s license and access to a working automobile.

 Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and protocol.
 Ability to demonstrate outstanding human relations and interpersonal communication skills
in communicating with CCPS employees, other organizations, and the general public.
 Ability to demonstrate competency in business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and
the ability to compute salaries and other similar mathematics.
 Ability to prepare and accurately maintain complex reports, files, and records.
 Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
 Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
 Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
 Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone
systems.
 Ability to operate computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light Work: Exerting moderate but not constant physical effort to perform light work, typically
involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling,
hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking,
standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing
and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds), visual perception and
discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color,
perceive odors, and require oral communications.
