$2,000 Hiring Bonus!!!

The Arc Carroll County is hiring School Bus Drivers for the 2022-2023 school year. These are part-time, 10-month positions starting in August, 2022. As a school bus driver, you will transport special needs children to and from school, conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicle, maintain trip reports, and adhere to all safety rules and regulations. All school buses have an Assistant who provides support and supervision to the students. Applicants much also meet requirements of Carroll County Board of Education.

BUS DRIVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – In addition to the above, you will:

Operate vehicle in a manner that complies with all laws, regulations and policies of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, Carroll County Public Schools and The Arc.
Attend all meetings, pre-service and in-service training required by Carroll County Public Schools and The Arc.
Complete trip reports as requested.
Take bus to state and county inspections when scheduled.
Report vehicle defects promptly, in writing, to the Director of Transportation.
Clean vehicle bi-weekly.
Maintain a good rapport with students, parents, guardians and personnel of the public school system and the Arc.
Contact each parent/guardian at the beginning of each school year, or as needed throughout the school year when changes occur, to introduce yourself, your assistant, and the bus schedule.

*Hiring/Sign-On Bonus will be paid in installments; must meet eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

BUS DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a valid driver’s license for at least five years.
Driving record must be in good standing; must not have more than two (2) current points.
Must possess or acquire a Maryland Commercial Drivers License, with appropriate endorsements.
Must meet physical requirements annually for school bus drivers, as dictated by the Carroll County Public School System and the State of Maryland.
Must meet all requirements established by the Carroll County Public School System and the State of Maryland.
Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).

BUS DRIVER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, early and/or exert force (push/pull) in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
Ability to withstand prolonged periods of sitting and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
Ability to transfer individual from a wheelchair to bus. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the bus with tie-downs.
Ability to participate in evacuation drills, including jumping out of the back of a bus then assisting children to exit.
